CISCO takes CSE lead in Nov.

…but CLR maintains overall lead

CISCO, the investment banking arm of Bank of Cyprus Group took the lead in the CSE member market share in November, moving from 3rd place in October to 1st in November, but CLR maintained its overall supremacy in the year-to-date rankings.

CISCO grabbed a 19.5% market share in November as it clinched most of the big accounts that were active in the BOC rights. Egnatia Financial Services, which moved from 5th place in October to 2nd in November is believed to have been helped by its arbitrage activity on the BOC rights and shares between Sophocleous and the CSE grabbing a 16.14% market share.

CLR Securities & Financial Services, which is mostly client driven saw its share decline to 13.67% in November, while Sharelink remained steady in 4th place on 11.75% share. Laiki Securities, which had moved into first position in October, slipped to fifth place with a 10.04% market share, but heavy arbitrage activity in December on the BOC rights is sure to help it move higher.

Atlantic Securities was steady in sixth place with a 7.9% market share during November.

Year-to-date

Despite the November setback, CLR maintained its overall supremacy of the CSE member firm ranking, remaining in first position with a 17% share of all equity and bond trading on the CSE during the first eleven months of the year. CLR has maintained its first position since the start of the year.

The November push helped CISCO improve its position from 3rd place into 2nd with a 13.64% overall market share, followed by Laiki Securities in third place, down one position from Jan-Oct. with a 12.49% share.

Egnatia also improved its position, replacing Sharelink as the fourth largest market share firm with a 11.7% market share, while Sharelink slipped into fifth place with a 11.15% share.

Lefkoniko Securities, which is due to suspend its operation in December was in 10th place with an overall 3.16% market share. Other firms that have in the meantime suspended operations are Suphire and Francoudi & Stephanou.
