Cyprus imports up 5.8%, exports up 22.9% Jan-Sep

Total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other Member States) in January-August 2005 amounted to CYP 1,807.0 mln as compared to CYP 1,707.6 mln in the corresponding period of 2004, representing a rise of 5.8%.

Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other Member States) in January-August 2005 were CYP 421.0 mln compared to CYP 342.5 mln in January-August 2004, representing a rise of 22.9%.

The trade deficit was CYP 1,386.0 mln in January-August 2005 compared to CYP 1,365.1 mln in the corresponding period of 2004.

During August 2005 total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other Member States) valued at CYP 215.2 mln.

Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other Member States), including stores and provisions, in August 2005 amounted to CYP 50.3 mln.

Exports/dispatches of domestically produced goods, including stores and provisions, were CYP 15.8 mln and exports/dispatches of foreign goods, including stores and provisions, CYP 34.5 mln.

On the basis of preliminary estimates for Foreign Trade in September 2005. total imports/ arrivals were CYP 261.2 mln, of which CYP 168.4 mln were arrivals from other Member States of E.U. and CYP 92.8 mln imports from Third countries. Total exports/dispatches were CYP 63.3 mln of which CYP 47.0 mln were dispatches to other Member States of E.U. and CYP 16.3 mln exports to Third Countries.
