Tourism revenue climbs 8.9%

Tourism revenue climbed by 8.9% year-on-year in August to CYP 161.3 mln from CYP 148.1 mln a year ago in the same period according to the Statistics Department.

For the period January – August 2005 revenue from tourism is estimated to CYP 673.9 mln compared to CYP 653.3 mln in the corresponding period of 2004, recording an increase of 3.1%.

The Statistics Department had earlier reported that arrivals in August climbed 10% y/y to 336.587 while the total arrivals during the first eight months of 2005 were estimated to be up 7.7% y/y at 1.694.477.
