Cyprus construction output slows in Q2

Construction output slowed in the second quarter of 2005, according to Statistical Service data, rising in April-June by just 1.3% on the same period of 2004, compared with a rise of 1.9% in the first quarter.

For the whole of 2004, construction output rose by 4.5%.

The slowdown in 2005 is being led by civil engineering, output of which declined by 4.8% year on year in the first quarter and by 5.1% in the second.

However, building construction has also slowed, recording growth rates of just 3.5% in the first quarter and 3.3% in the second, compared with a rise of 4.4% in 2004.
