Unemployment rate steady

The unemployment rate in July 2005 remained at the same level as that recorded in June 2005 at 3.4%, according to the Statistical Service of Cyprus. In absolute terms, the total number of unemployed persons reached 12,205, only 8 persons higher than the total recorded in June 2005 and some 515 persons higher than the total registered in July

2004. The primary reason for the increase in the annual unemployment rate is attributed to the increase in the number of unemployed persons in the sectors of construction and trade.
