Cyprus Airways online ticket sales have passed the 100,000 mark, making the company’s website, www.cyprusairways.com, the most successful eBusiness site on the island.

To mark the occasion, CAIR chairman Lazaros Savvides handed the keys to a Smart car to Christodoulos Papasavvas from Kokkinotrimithia, who entered the airline’s competition during the Cyprus International Fair last month.

The airline also announced that it plans to introduce the automated e-ticketing service by the end of autumn or early winter.

An airline spokesman said that the CAIR model was presented at the IATA conference in Tokyo in May, where many other similar-sized international carriers were keen to introduce the same platform for e-ticketing as well.

So far, only the large global carriers such as British Airways, Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines offer e-ticketing services in Cyprus.
