Tellas, the leading wireline alternative operator in Greece, has selected Ericsson as Solution Supplier and System Integrator for its Video Call Service offering to fixed subscribers. This is the first such service launch in Greece and one of the very few in Europe.

Video Call Service offers an enriched communication experience to end-users (domestic and business) and is available to all subscribers of Tellas fixed telephony services. By using an SIP-enabled video-phone terminal, Tellas subscribers will be able to make and receive both normal voice calls as well as video calls simply by using their existing telephone connection. The Video Call Service is currently offered over normal PSTN or ISDN lines, which makes it very attractive for any fixed telephony user in Greece.

“We are pleased that Tellas has entrusted Ericsson as the System Integrator and Supplier of such an advanced Solution, which is being launched for the first time in Greece and is one of the few implementations in Europe,” said Bill Zikou, President, Ericsson South East Europe.

Tellas SA, the joint venture of the Greek power company, DEH SA and the Italian Wind Telecommunicazioni Spa, launched its commercial operation in February 2003 and has been leading the market developments ever since, combining the prestige and infrastructure of DEH with the valuable experience and know-how of WIND, a leading provider of integrated services of fixed, mobile telephony and Internet in Europe. Tellas was the first to provide the Greek public with innovative Fixed Telephony Services, Internet Access Services, Combined Services of Fixed Telephony and Internet as well as Broadband Services, at competitive rates for all market segments, residential users, professionals, small enterprises and large companies.
