Exports and imports boom in 2004

Final data for foreign trade in January-December 2004 show that both exports and imports boomed in 2004.

Total exports/ dispatches for the whole of 2004 increased by 14.9% to CYP 548.0 mln, compared with CYP 476.8 mln in 2003.

Total imports/arrivals for January-December 2004 rose by 16.3% to CYP 2,679.3 mln, compared with CYP 2,304.1 mln in 2003.

The Statistical Service told the Financial Mirror that a full breakdown of exports and imports by category should be available in a few weeks.

In December alone, total imports/arrivals reached CYP 263.9 mln, of which CYP 177.8 mln were arrivals from other Member States of EU and CYP 86.1 mln imports from third (non-EU) countries. Total exports/dispatches were CYP 47.5 mln of which CYP 32.5 mln were dispatches to other Member States of E.U. and CYP 15.0 mln exports to third countries.
