Britain appoints new High Commissioner

Peter Millet has been appointed British High Commissioner to Cyprus in succession to Lyn Parker who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment, an official announcement said Thursday.

Millet, 50, will take up his appointment in June.

He was until recently Head of Security at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London and served at other embassies, including Deputy Head of Mission in Athens, and FCO offices.

He is married and has three daughters.
