EU Commissioner briefs Cyprus President

European Union Commissioner responsible for health and consumer protection Markos Kyprianou briefed here today Cyprus President Tassos Kyprianou about issues of his competence and the overall EU strategy on health matters.

Welcoming Papadopoulos for the first time at his office, Cypriot Commissioner Kyprianou said it was a great honour for him to have been proposed for this post and to welcome President Papadopoulos in Brussels.

Papadopoulos said he was very pleased indeed to visit ‘my friend Markos Kyprianou who is responsible for a very important sector, that is of great interest to Cyprus.

‘Kyprianou operates as a Commission member and not a representative of Cyprus. However this does not alter in any way the very close relations and cooperation we have had over the years and we continue to have,’ he added.
