Overseas Cypriots conference to be held in Nicosia

The Cyprus issue and ways overseas Cypriots can contribute to Cyprus’ cause for justice will be the main agenda items of a week-long meeting of Cypriots overseas, to take place later this month.
A total of 120 delegates from the Central Councils of the World Federation of Overseas Cypriots (POMAK) and the International Coordinating Committee-Justice for Cyprus (PSEKA) will convene between 21-24 August in Nicosia, together with NEPOMAK (World Organisation for Young Cypriots) and the World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE).
NEPOMAK’s annual meeting will be held simultaneously with the conference.
Director of the Overseas Cypriots’ Division at the Foreign Ministry Ambassador Stavros Epaminondas has told CNA that Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos, Archbishop Chrysostomos II, House President Demetris Christofias and Foreign Minister Erato Kozakou Markoullis will address delegates.
The conference will also be addressed by Epaminondas, a Greek Foreign Ministry representative and the chairmen of POMAK, PSEKA, NEPOMAK and SEA, Haris Sofoklides, Philip Christopher, Christos Karaolis and Stefanos Tamvakis respectively.
The POMAK Central Committee will be briefed by President Papadopoulos on the Cyprus problem while Markoullis will brief delegates on the latest developments.
Leaders or representatives of political parties will address the meeting which will hear the action reports of the Cypriot federations from Britain, Australia and New Zealand, the US and Canada, Greece, South Africa, Europe and the rest of Africa.
Delegates will be briefed on issues concerning the media and enlightenment by Press and Information Office Director Yiannakis Solomou and Acting Director and Chief Editor of the Cyprus News Agency George Penintaex.
There will be interventions by representatives of refugee committees and missing persons’ associations.
