Cyprus ondustrial production down slightly in Feb y/y

Industrial production in Cyprus fell slightly compared with the year-earlier period in February, dropping by 0.6% to 101.0 (2000=100).

For the period January-February 2006 the index recorded an increase of 0.9% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Within the industry category, mining and quarrying rose by 4.6% in Jan-Feb, manufacturing by 0.5%, and electricity gas and water supply by 1.7%.

Some sectors of manufacturing are doing better than others: in particular, electrical and optical equipment production rose by 10.6% year on year in the first two months of 2007, chemicals, chemicals products and man-made fibres rose by 6.7% and rubber and plastics products rose by 5.6%.
