Outbound tourism still strong in January

Latest figures from the Statistical Service show that the desire of Cypriots to travel shows no sign of letting up.

Cypriots On the basis of the results of the Passengers Survey, 63,525 residents of Cyprus returned from a trip abroad in January 2007 compared to 59,570 in the corresponding month last year recording an increase of 6.6%.

In January 2007 there was an increase of 8.9% in the trips of residents to Greece (from 20,326 in January 2006 to 22,138 in January 2007) and 6.3% increase to the United Kingdom (from 11,579 to 12,305).

In 2006 the number of residents travelling abroad rose by 2% to reach 932,116.
