Anastasiades re-elected DISY President

President of the main opposition Democratic Rally Party (DISY), Nicos Anastasiades, has been re-elected unopposed to serve a further four-year term at the head of the party.
DISY Deputy President Averof Neofytou was also re–elected unopposed to serve this post for the next four years.
Candidacies were submitted yesterday for the three posts of the party’s Vice Chairpersons and for the members of the party’s Political Bureau.
The party 4th Pancyprian Electoral Congress will take place on 18th of March.
In statements to the press, Anastasiades pledged to continue efforts to further strengthen the party, adding that “my new term will probably be the last one at the party”.
“This is probably the last term I ask for a vote of confidence”, he said.
Referring to the Cyprus problem, Anastasiades said that ”it is important to reunify our country and vindicate the expectations of the people to live peacefully in a reunited Cyprus”.
