Cyprus Finance Minister in ECOFIN meeting

Cyprus Finance Minister Michalis Sarris departed for Brussels here Monday to attend the ECOFIN Meeting which will be held on Tuesday.

The Council will discuss amongst other issues, the German Presidency’s priorities on issues of economic policy, France’s excessive deficit procedure and will be informed on the European Commission’s progress report on the Lisbon Strategy.

The Finance Ministers will be also be updated on the Broad economic policy guidelines and reducing administrative burden and will be presented the convergence reports by the Commission and the European Central Bank. Cyprus’s evaluation in both reports “confirms the positive course of the Cyprus economy with the Maastricht criteria”, an official statement said.

The EU Finance Ministers will also be presented the Commission’s report on the current status of Slovenia’s adoption of the Euro.
