CSE closes on high note

The Cyprus Stock Exchange closed its last trading day before the launch of the Common Trading Platform on high note, with the main index recording a new fresh closing high on a sharp jump in volume that reached CYP 19 mln.

The Main/Parallel Index closed Wednesday up 1.32% at 3390.20 while the FTSE/20 ended up 1.33% at 1156.44.

The CSE will not operate on Thursday and Friday in order to allow time for the processing of trades ahead of the official launch of the CTP with ATHEX on Monday, when trading will resume at 10.00 with all prices quoted in euros.

Laiki Bank roared 3.45% higher to a new record close of CYP 3.60 on CYP 6.05 mln volume, a day after shareholders approved the postponement of the EGM until next Tuesday to ratify the triple merger.

Hellenic Bank was the second most active, up 4.52% at CYP 1.85 on CYP 2.7 mln volume, followed by Bank of Cyprus in third place, closing 0.2% lower at CYP 5.05 on CYP 2.35 mln volume.

Louis Pcl was the fourth most active, closing 13.7% higher at 38.9 cent on CYP 1.4 mln volume, followed by SFS Group Pcl, up 6.61% at 12.9 cent on CYP 598.000 volume.
