Industrial output falls again in July

Industrial output fell by 1.0% in July 2006 compared with the same month of 2005, with the indexing reaching 121.8 (Base 2000=100).

For the period January-July 2006 the industrial production index recorded a decrease of 0.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Within the overall category of industry, manufacturing production fell by 2.2% in the same period, while mining rose by 3.5% and electricity, gas and water production rose by 4.4%.

The fastest growing category of manufacturing was output of electrical and optical equipment, up 21% year on year in Jan-July. The fastest falling was output of leather and leather products, down 22.6% year on year in the same period.
