Politis releases police abuse video

A video showing Cypriot police beating up two young men on December 20, 2005 has been released by the daily newspaper Politis on its website.

Police, who were on duty in civilian clothes, as they were hunting the “Drakos” who had been terrorising women by night, are clearly shown beating up two young men and sitting or kneeling on them as they lay on the pavement.

It is unknown why it has taken so long for the video footage, which runs to around ten minutes, to surface.
