Cypriot Foreign Minister George Iacovou left for Khartoum on Saturday from Brussels, to take part in the Arab League summit at the invitation of the league’s Secretary General Amre Mousa.

Iacovou was in Brussels where he had accompanied Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos at the EU Summit.

It is the first time a foreign minister of the Republic of Cyprus is participating in an Arab League summit, an official statement said on Saturday.

During his stay in the Sudanese capital, Iacovou will inform his Arab counterparts on the latest developments on the Cyprus issue and discuss issues of common interest.
