BOC record close on Sophocleous

Bank of Cyprus shares powered ahead to another fresh record close Tuesday on the Athens Stock Exchange, and in the process opened up the gap with the CSE closing price to 9 cents, which indicates a strong open on Wednesday when trading resumes.

BOC shares closed at a record EUR 6.44 or CYP 3.70, gaining 3.54% on the day on Sophocleous with 2.18 mln shares changing hands for a value of EUR 14 mln or CYP 8.06 mln. The BOC gains far outstripped the ASE gain of 0.93% to 4187.56 on Tuesday, as well as the 1.98% gains for the BOC shares on the CSE.

In brisk trading Tuesday on the CSE, the BOC shares closed 1.98% higher on the day at a fresh record close of CYP 3.61, for a weekly gain of 7.7% and year-to-date gains of 37%. Total volume on the BOC shares, which were the most active reached CYP 2.4 mln.

Laiki Bank shares were the second most active on CYP 1.02 mln volume, but ended 0.74% lower on the day at CYP 2.67, but maintained their weekly gains at 7.2% and their y-t-d gains at 46%.

Hellenic Bank shares followed next on CYP 554k volume, closing 2.33% higher on the day at a fresh record close of 88 cent, taking their weekly and year-to-date gains to 10% and 54% respectively.

Louis Public Co. was the fourth most active stock on Tuesday, ending 5.12% higher at a fresh record of 26.7 cent on CYP 243k volume, taking its weekly gains to 13.6% and since the start of the year to 40.5%.

CLR Investment Fund was the fifth most active on CYP 111k volume, ending 2.08% higher on the day at 4.9 cent and in the process taking its weekly gains to 13.9% and the year-to-date gains to 32.4%.

The GENX surged 1.33% on the day to a fresh record close of 2334.47 points, taking its gains since the start of the year to 37% for perhaps the best performance since 1999.
