DIPLOMACY: Cyprus FM to discuss energy and security during US visit

Cyprus Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides departs on Saturday, for Washington, where he will hold important contacts with US State Department officials, Senators and Congressmen.


According to the Foreign Ministry, Cyprus-US bilateral relations, the latest developments in the Cyprus problem, security and cooperation issues in Eastern Mediterranean region and energy will be on the agenda of the meetings.

Christodoulides will also attend the AIPAC Policy Conference to take place 24-26 March in the US capital.

He will participate as a speaker in two roundtable debates, where he will have the opportunity to present Cyprus foreign policy and its role in the wider region of the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East.

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades participated in the 6th trilateral summit in Jerusalem with Premiers of Israel and Greece and the participation of the US State Secretary.

The AIPAC is the largest gathering of America`s pro-Israel community. Confirmed speakers include vice President Michael Pence, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
