CYPRUS: AISC students excel in IB 2017 exam results

The American International School in Cyprus (AISC) through its parent organisation, Esol Education, announced that its AISC Class of 2017 achieved a 100% pass rate in the IB Diploma results.

The highest AISC score was 42 while the average point of 34 out of a possible 45 points placed AISC ahead of the global average of 29 points. An impressive 83% of AISC students performed above the world wide average.

AISC students participated in the exams for 24 subjects, including English Literature, Mathematics, Biology and Economics. AISC students achieved perfect scores in English Literature HL, Biology SL and Visual Arts HL. A Bilingual Diploma was awarded to 50% of the 2017 AISC cohort who achieved Bilingual Diplomas in Greek and Chinese, mastering two languages to native speaker standard.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) is the most widely recognised diploma in the world. Under the IB system, students are required to study six academic areas and a minimum of two languages. The two year curriculum culminates in an extended examination period at the end of year two.

According to Michelle Kleiss, Director of AISC, “The characteristics of the IB Diploma Programme begin in our elementary school. The IB supports personal development, time-management skills and interests, while stretching the mind and fully preparing students for post-secondary success. High school students come out of the IB program with the ability to write high quality research papers, commentaries and essays in their own words”.
