A total of 7,000 Austrian pensioners, members of the retirees’ federation PVO Pensionisternverband ended their long-stay holiday organised by Senioren Reisen that is affiliated to the country’s socialist party and the biggest voice for pensioners in Austria.

Cyprus was chosen for the first time which has helped boost off-peak tourism and boosted numbers for airports operator Hermes and host Tsokos Hotels.
The senior holiday makers chose the Ayia Napa-Protaras area as their base for five weeks but visited all parts of the island, as part of an effort by the Cyprus Tourism Organisation to promote winter tourism.
Already, the official holiday season has been extended by one month at the beginning and the end, allowing hotels to open earlier in March/April and close later in November, helping the annual number of arrivals to breach the 3 mln mark for the firm time last year. Already, official statistics suggest that the January-March arrivals were higher this year than last year.
According to the CTO, a similar number of senior visitors is expected from Austrian in the Spring of 2018.
