CYPRUS: Trade deficit widens further in December

Total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other EU Member States) in January-December 2016 amounted to EUR 5.960,0mn as compared to EUR 5.141,6mn in January-December 2015. Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other EU Member States) in January-December 2016 were EUR 1.736,5mn compared to EUR 1.739,7mn in January-December 2015. The trade deficit was EUR 4.223,4mn in January-December 2016 compared to EUR 3.402,0mn in the corresponding period of 2015.


 
During December 2016 total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other EU Member States) valued at EUR 562,1mn.
Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other EU Member States), including stores and provisions, in December 2016 amounted to EUR 154,8mn. Εxports/dispatches of domestically produced goods, including stores and provisions, were EUR 94,5mn whilst exports/dispatches of foreign goods, including stores and provisions, were EUR 60,3mn.
On the basis of preliminary estimates the trade deficit in January 2017, stood at EUR 317,9 mn, compared to EUR 220,9 mn in January 2016.
On a monthly basis the trade deficit was reduced, compared to EUR 407,26 mn in December 2016.
Total imports / arrivals were EUR 483,1 mn, of which EUR 293,9 mn were arrivals from other member states of EU and EUR 189,2 mn imports from third countries.
Total exports/dispatches were EUR 165,2 mn of which EUR 53,3 mn were dispatches to other member states of EU and EUR 111,9 mn exports to third countries.
