The third annual Eastern Mediterranean Gas Conference (EMGC), to be held at the Hilton Cyprus in Nicosia on 17-18 March 2015, is taking place at a time of rapid developments in the Eastern Mediterranean energy sector. The conference is organised by Gulf Publishing Company with Noble Energy as the lead sponsor, and Hyperion Systems Engineering as Gold Sponsor.

A series of recent discoveries by Noble Energy and its partners has increased the estimated gross resources of natural gas in the region to 40 trillion cubic feet (Tcf). Policy is currently being developed to determine how natural gas will be exported. During the two-day conference, attendees will have numerous opportunities to network with executives and government officials who are actively involved in developing the region’s natural gas industry and learn how their company can establish business operations in the area.

New for 2015 is the addition of a breakfast workshop, free to conference attendees, hosted by Deloitte. The workshop will cover the challenges that oil and gas companies will face as they establish operations in the Cyprus environment, including direct taxation, indirect taxation (VAT), human capital and other related operational matters. Workshop attendees will learn how to navigate these challenges and optimize operational efficiency and related tax cost.

“At this year’s event we will explore the potential uses of the Cyprus discovered natural gas resources of 4.5 Tcf, including regional distribution and transportation issues, as well as downstream applications,” said John Royall, President and CEO of Gulf Publishing Company.

EMGC provides a special focus on the latest geopolitical, market and technology trends related to the exploration, drilling, production, processing and marketing of natural gas in the area. The conference will cover critical issues such as resource potential, leasing/permitting, development plans, infrastructure requirements, governmental plans and regulations and more.

Scheduled speakers for EMGC 2015 include: Adi Karev, Global Head Oil & Gas and Regional Head (AP) Energy & Resources of Deloitte; Harris Georgiades, Minister of Finance for the Ministry of Finance, Republic of Cyprus; Elfride Covarrubias Villegas, Business Development Manager Italy & Med Area of DNV GL – Oil & Gas; Gina Cohen, Gas Consultant, Eastern Mediterranean; Symeon Kassianides, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Hyperion Systems Engineering Group; Antonis Paschalides, Senior Partner: Head of Energy Law Department at Antonis Paschalides & Co LLC; Bill R.
