CYPRUS: Central Bank to host SWIFT workshop

The Central Bank of Cyprus, as a regulator and overseer of payment systems in Cyprus, will be hosting a presentation delivered by SWIFT officials under the title “Why Should I Connect” that will capture non-technical information on how SWIFT can help banks, custodians, corporates, brokers, dealers and investment managers to connect securely and efficiently with their counterparts.


The Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) is a cooperative organisation owned by its member institutions through which the financial world conducts its business operations. More than 10,500 financial institutions and corporations in 215 countries trust SWIFT every day to exchange more than 24 mln messages.
The event will also focus on applications and services offered to SWIFT users especially emphasising business applications associated with treasury management, imports/exports of goods and business intelligence via messaging platforms. It will also be covering applications aiming at traffic monitoring and screening for sanctions, Politically Exposed Persons, Know-Your-Customer, International Compliance, FATCA, Dodd Frank and EMIR Regulations. .
SWIFT’s interactive presentation is open to the public and will take place at the amphitheatre of the Central Bank of Cyprus, 80 Kennedy Avenue on Monday, December 15, from 2.30 to 4.30pm.
