Hermes Airports announces the launching of the operation of automatic-electronic gates at Larnaka International Airport. This is the first phase of the implementation of an automated system which is located in the departures area and allows the traveling public, when carrying a printed copy of the airline’s boarding pass, to proceed directly to security check and then to the shops and the departure gates of the terminal. The process of using this system is very simple and only requires the scanning of the boarding pass of each passenger. Hermes Airports has ensured that the usage of this system is also feasible and available to people with disabilities or reduced mobility (PRM).

The operation of the new E-gates for Boarding Pass Access Control also includes a second phase service which will be available to the public soon, namely “Fast Track” that is used by many airports around the world and which allows the public paying a small fee to enjoy a direct and quick entry to the departure gates of the terminal, thus avoiding the long queues observed sometimes during peak hours.

The installation and operation of the new automated electronic gates system at Larnaka International Airport is another step in Hermes’ continuous efforts to provide upgraded services to both the local traveling public and the millions of tourists visiting Cyprus annually.

Hermes Airports Ltd is the operator of the two International Airports of the Republic of Cyprus. Overall, more than seven million passengers travel through Larnaka and Pafos International Airports, annually.
