Cyprus President on official visit to the Vatican

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades is paying the Holy See an official visit, starting Friday.

According to an official announcement, the President will be accompanied by his spouse and a delegation comprising Minister of Foreign Affairs Ioannis Kasoulides, the Minister of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism Yiorgos Lakkotrypis, the Government Spokesman Christos Stylianides, the Permanent Secretary of the Minister of Finance Christos Patsalides and the Director of the Diplomatic Office of the President Nicos Christodoulides.
On Saturday, 15 February, the President will have a private audience with Pope Francis at the Offices of the Pontiff (Holy Father). There will subsequently be a meeting with the members of the Cyprus delegation as well.

Later on the same day the President will meet the Secretary of State of the Vatican (Prime Minister of the Holy See), Cardinal Pietro Parolin and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Archbishop Dominique Mamberti and will attend an official lunch with the Prime Minister of the Holy See.
Saturday afternoon the President will meet the Founder of the Community of Sant’ Egidio, Prof. Andrea Riccardi, and the President of the Community, Prof. Marco Impagliazzo, at the Headquarters of the Community.

The Community will be hosting a dinner the same night in honor of President Anastasiades and the delegation.
The Cyprus President and his entourage will return home Sunday evening.
