Dr. Alexandros Charalambides, Assistant Professor at the Department of Environmental Science and Technology has been elected to serve as the Young International Solar Energy Society (ISES) Representative on the ISES Board of Directors for the 2014-15 term.
ISES (www.ises.org), an international non-profit UN-accredited membership NGO founded in 1954, has a long history of acting as the trusted global advisor on renewable energy and this remains its core value. ISES works to achieve 100% renewable energy for all, used efficiently and wisely, by providing the global renewable energy community with a collective, scientifically credible voice and up-to-date information gathered and synthesized by its talented members.
The research activities of Dr. Alexandros Charalambides are focused on the prediction of local climatic conditions, their effect on solar irradiance and thus on the prediction of electricity production from solar systems, such as photovoltaics.

Through this position, which was given to a Cypriot for the first time, he will work for the promotion of entrepreneurship in the “solar academic community”, aiming for a better penetration of research-based products to the global market.
