The Fiat that makes coffee (by Lavazza, of course)

Oh how those Italians love their espresso. And now, they'll be able to have a doppio on the go in the new Fiat 500L.

At the presentation of the car to the Cyprus press in Nicosia this week, Fiat distributors CIC Automasters announced that the 500L is "the first standard-production car in the world to offer a true espresso coffee machine."
The espresso maker is an option that costs only 320 euros in the new, bigger, four-door 500L, seen by industry experts as a challenger to the Mini Cooper Countryman, that lacks a coffe machine.
Fiat says the machine "is perfectly integrated in the car with a deck designed expressly by Fiat." The espresso machine, which comes with matching cups, is being made for Fiat by Lavazza — known as "Italy's favorite coffee" — and uses the company's "A Modo Mio" coffee pods. Lavazza also runs a Starbucks-like coffee chain in Italy.
The 500L is being built in Serbia but the espresso maker seems unlikely in the current climate of concern over driver distractions in cars. One could argue that it would do wonders for driver alertness.
Precisely five years after the presentation of the Fiat 500 and 55 years after the début of the historic 500, Fiat 500L presented on market . It is the new chapter of the Italian icon that follows the Abarth and Cabrio versions.
After more than 800,000 cars have been sold in 110 countries worldwide, the 500 has grown up to accommodate new experiences and needs once more. Staring from 15,900 euros on the road, the 500L is available for viewing and test drive at the CIC Automasters showroom at Kalamon street in Strovolos, on the way to the Nicosia General Hospital and Latsia roundabout, Tel. 22887000.
