Etihad named WTA leading airline

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE, has taken the top honour at the World Travel Awards for the third year in a row. It was named the World’s Leading Airline, while the judges also presented Etihad with awards for the World’s Leading First Class and World’s Leading Airline to the Middle East.
Highlights of the airline’s achievements in the pas year included the launch of seven new international routes, a move into operating profitability and the purchase of a 29.2% stake in airberlin, a landmark deal that enables access to 33 mln new passengers in Europe.
“We are always looking to innovate, whether that be by introducing qualified chefs in our Diamond First Class or bringing industry-leading inflight entertainment systems with mobile and internet connectivity to the sky. Etihad Airways’ vision is simple: to be the best airline in the world,” said James Hogan, President and CEO.
Etihad operates a two-class Airbus A320 between Abu Dhabi and Cyprus every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. It departs from Abu Dhabi at 09:40 and arrives in Larnaca at 11:40. The return flight departs from Larnaca at 14:10 and arrives in Abu Dhabi at 19:25, local time.
