Increased water flow to the Cyprus dams from prolonged rainfall

Water flow to the dams of the Republic of Cyprus from October 1, 2011 until today has reached 10,5 million cubic metres, compared to 5,3 million in the same period last year.

Senior Technician at the Water Development Department of Cyprus, Fedros Roussis, in statements to CNA said that from Friday December 30, 2011, until Monday morning, five million cubic metres of water flew into the dams.

Roussis told CNA that water reserves reached 127,8 million cubic metres (44% of the dams’ capacity), compared to 199,3 million (47,9% of the capacity) in the same period last year.
