Cyprus building permits down 12.9% in first half

The number of building permits authorised in January – June 2011 fell by 12.9% compared with the same period of the previous year to 4,024.
The total value of these permits decreased by 24.6% and the total area by 29.3%.
Τhe number of dwelling units recorded a decrease of 42.2%.
In June alone, 696 permits were issued. The total value of these permits reached EUR 163.1 mln and the total area 174,000 square metres.
These building permits provide for the construction of 662 dwelling units.
