Cyprus water transport up, but air and land down in 2010

Turnover in the water transport sector rose in 2010, but there was a decline in air and land transport, according to the latest figures from the Statistical Service.
On the positive side, water transport turnover value increased by 8.1% in 2010 compared with 2009, while freight and postal and courier activities increased by 6.8%.
However, air transport dropped by 3.7%, no doubt affected by the closure of the charter carrier Eurocypria, while land transport also fell by 5.9%, perhaps reflecting weak retail sales.
