Cyprus inflation rises in June

Inflation in June 2010 recorded an increase of 1.9%, CyStat announced.
According to the latest data released today, the Consumer Price Index for June increased by 0.22 units or 0.20% to 112.89 units, compared to 112.67 in May. This is mainly due to an increase in the prices of petroleum products, electricity and airfares. A decrease has been recorded in the prices of certain fresh fruit.
The rate of increase of the Index and therefore the rate of inflation for June rose to 1.9% compared to 1.6% in May and 0.2% in June 2009.
For the period January-June, the CPI recorded an increase of 2.3% compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
