Cyprus supports a single EU approach on passengers rights

Cyprus Communications and Works Minister Erato Kozakou Marcoullis expressed Cyprus’ support to a single EU approach as regards the protection of passengers’ rights and the support of the airliners which suffered a serious setback due to the Icelandic volcanic ash cloud.

Marcoullis who was speaking during the meeting on Thursday of the EU Transport Ministers also underlined the need to develop a pan- European mobility plan, that will secure the effective use of alternative means of transport and called on the Commission to take into consideration the fact that island states as Cyprus, lack of such alternative means of communication.

The EU Ministers stressed the role of the transport sector in “Europe 2020” strategy for a sustainable and unrestricted development. Marcoullis stressed the need for upgrading the existing infrastructure to promote development.
