The Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEV) presented its second annual awards for social excellence to three companies: C.A. Papaellinas (large companies), Lois Builders (SMEs) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (novel practices).
In presenting the awards, OEV chairman Andreas Pittas said that the aim was “to reward the promotion of women’s participation in the workplace, as well as the introduction of methods to identify social problems and create ways to overcome them.”
“Despite the fact that this year’s participating companies too have been hit by the financial crisis, have adopted new practices to keep a balance between professional and family life,” Dr Pittas added.
Some of the measures introduced by the three award-winning companies are a flexible work schedule, extension of maternity leave from 18 weeks to six months, partial work from home with a subsidised Internet connection, full subsidy of study fees, a compact 4-day work week, and an annual survey of ways to improve the working environment.
