Turkish Cypriots spent EUR 8.1 mln in the south in Jan-June

Turkish Cypriots spent EUR 8.1 mln using credit and debit cards in the southern part of Cyprus during the first six months of the year, according to data from the credit card company JCC. In June alone, they spent EUR 1.4 mln, compared with EUR 1.5 mln in May.
The most popular item in the first six months of the year was supermarkets (reaching EUR 1.8 mln), followed by clothing (EUR 1.6 mln) and DIY (EUR 1.3 mln).
Meanwhile, in January-June Greek Cypriots spent EUR 3.3 mln in “Occupied Areas and Attaleia”, with only a tiny proportion of that likely to have been spent in Attaleia (Antalya).
Most spending by Greek Cypriots was on entertainment (EUR 1.9 mln), while EUR 619,823 was spent on hotels. Only EUR 105 was spent on travel.
Spending by Greek Cypriots in other parts of Turkey excluding Antalya was 749,245 in the first five months of the year.
