Cyprus tourism revenue tumbles, but not as fast as arrivals

Revenue from tourism arrivals fell sharply in February but not as fast as the decrease in arrivals.
According to the results of the Passenger Survey, revenue from tourism fell by 10.8% to EUR 36.3 mln in February 2009, from EUR 40.6 mln in the same month of 2008.
Last week, the Statistical Service reported that tourism arrivals had fallen in the same month by 19.3%.
For the period January – February 2009 revenue from tourism is estimated at EUR 67.5 mln, 11.1% lower than the EUR 75.9 mln recorded in the corresponding period of 2008.
Tourism arrivals in the same period fell by 14.2%.
