The Lord Mayor of the City of London the Rt. Honourable Alderman Ian Luder is planning to visit Cyprus from 26 to 28 January 2009, with an aim to enhance business links and collaboration between Cyprus and Britain in the field of financial services.

The Lord Mayor's programme, organised by the British High Commission, will include a series of meetings with Cypriot officials, including President of the Republic Demetris Christofias, and financial experts.

He will also attend specific events organised on the occasion of his visit, such as the Gala Dinner of the Cyprus-UK Business Association, where he will be the keynote speaker.

The Lord Mayor is the head of the City of London, with civic duties in the Square Mile. More importantly, though, he is the head of the Corporation of London and an international ambassador for the UK and its financial services industry.

During his one year in office, the Lord Mayor has been travelling extensively around the world representing the UK's financial and business services and encouraging the development of links with London as the world's leading centre for international business.

His position as a trusted spokesman for the financial community is enhanced by the entirely apolitical nature of his office.
