Cyprus turnover data show hotels down, professional services up

The turnover value of the “Hotels and Restaurants” sector for the period July-September 2008 recorded a decrease of 1.2% compared to the corresponding period of 2007, in keeping with falling tourism arrivals.
“Architectural, Engineering and other related activities” recorded an increase of 4.6% in the same period.
This was in sharp contrast to the 24.3% increase recorded in the “Legal, Accounting, Book-keeping, Auditing and other related activities” sector.
Computer and related activities rose by 11.7% in the third quarter.
Transport was stagnant in the same period.
Land transport activity increased by 0.4% compared to the corresponding period of 2007, air transport also rose by 0.4%, while water transport decreased by 0.1%.
Post and telecommunications turnover value increased by 5.6% compared to the corresponding period of 2007.
