Cyprus retail trade still buoyant in July

Retail trade in Cyprus remained buoyant in July, according to provisional figures for that month.
The turnover volume index of retail trade for July 2008 rose by a provisional 10.1% compared with the same month of 2007.
Revised figures for June show an increase of 3.7% over the same month of 2007.
For the period January-June 2008, the volume index recorded an increase of 10.6% compared to the corresponding period of 2007, while the provisional data for July indicate a year-to-date increase of 10.5% in the first seven months.
In terms of value, the turnover value index for retail trade in July shows a provisional increase of 16.1% compared with July 2007.
Revised figures for June show an increase of 8.9%.
For the period January-June 2008, the value index recorded an increase of 14.6% compared with the corresponding period of 2007, while provisional data for July indicate a year-to-date increase of 14.8% in the first seven months for retail sales value.
Consumer price inflation in the same period was 4.9%.
