Cyprus approves minimum wage hike

The Council of Ministers approved the proposed increase in the minimum wage to EUR 743 (CYP 435) from EUR 698.82 (CYP 409) previously, recording an increase of 6.35%.
The decision concerns secretaries, salespersons, nurse assistants, governess assistants, baby nurse assistants and school assistants. By July 1st, it will include other professions too.
In addition, the minimum wage for employees who work more than six months, will increase by 6.4%, from 741,53 to 789 euro. The minimum wage will now reach 50% of the average wage.
