Cyprus Airways has announced the launch of a new service from Paphos airport to the Greek capital Athens starting from December 21.

The Cypriot carrier will operate three flights per week with its two Airbus A319 of 144 Economy seats.

“As the only Cypriot carrier, we feel that it is our duty to respond to the local market’s needs and that is why we have decided to include the Paphos-Athens route to our upcoming flight schedule,” said George Mavrocostas, Cyprus Airways Chief Operations Officer.

He said it was imperative to support local airlines to overcome difficulties caused by geopolitical issues, especially with the Turkish embargo, in order to further develop and improve Cyprus’ connectivity.

Tickets for the Paphos-Athens route are currently available to book online.

Cyprus Airways said it will continue its flights from Larnaca to Athens, Thessaloniki, Tel Aviv, Beirut, Prague and Heraklion during the winter season.

In the coming weeks the airline will announce its new flight schedule for the summer season starting from March 2020, servicing popular routes as well as exploring new markets to promote Cyprus as a tourist destination.

Paris is expected to be added as a new destination from Larnaca.
