TRAVEL: Number of Cyprus residents taking a foreign trip on the rise

A small 1.1% increase was recorded in the number of Cyprus residents returning from a trip abroad in July compared to last year with Greece the most popular destination.


According to the Passengers Survey, 166,175 residents of Cyprus returned from a trip abroad in July 2019 compared to 164,376 in the same month of 2018, recording an increase of 1.1%.

This was the smallest monthly increase recorded this year.

There was a spike of 33.8% in the trips of residents to Russia, reaching 9,416 from 7,040 in July 2018.

Meanwhile a decrease of 8.7% was recorded in trips to Greece (61,357) as well as for journeys to the UK (23,113), the two most popular destinations.

There was also an increase in trips to Germany 4,166 (58%) and Bulgaria 5,794 (8.4%) while journeys to France (3,693) were down 6.8%
