Turkey has dispatched a fourth vessel, the Oruc Reis survey ship, to the Eastern Mediterranean, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu confirmed on Twitter.

He was responding to comments by the leader of the opposition Turkish Republican People's Party Kemal Kilicdaroglou who had questioned why Turkey did not currently have a presence in the region.

Cavusoglu disparagingly said that Kilicdaroglou evidently believed that the Fatih, Yavuz and Barbaros were Greek vessels.

Turkish ships the Fatih and Yavuz are illegally drilling within Cyprus waters despite the US and EU calling on Ankara to withdraw from the area.
