CYPRUS: President Anastasiades to have talks with Putin in China

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades will hold a meeting in China this week with Russian President Vladimir Putin while at the Belt and Road Forum.

Government spokesman Prodromos Prodromou told CNA that President Anastasiades departs on Monday for China, upon the invitation of the President of China where he will participate in the Belt and Road Forum.

The Cypriot President will hold a meeting with his Chinese counterpart and also meet the Russian leader.

Prodromou said discussions between Anastasiades – Putin, will include the Cyprus issue, bilateral relations and international issues.

He said the meeting falls within the contacts of Anastasiades with all 5 UNSC permanent members, in the framework of the efforts for the resumption of Cyprus talks and the role that the Greek Cypriot side seeks for the UNSC to play for a possible solution.

The President is expected to return to Cyprus on Sunday.
