There is mutual understanding and complete coordination with Athens about next steps on the Cyprus problem and the stance of Turkey in the region, said Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades.

Anastasiades met on Tuesday Greek Foreign Minister George Katrougalos in Nicosia, on his first official visit to the island after assuming his duties as Greece’s top diplomat.

The visit takes place ahead of a meeting between Katrougalos and his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu, on Thursday in Turkey.

After the meeting at the Presidential Palace, Anastasiades tweeted “constructive meeting with Katrougalos. Our two governments are in consultation and there is absolute coordination”.

Cyprus’ Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides, Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromou, the Ambassador of Greece to Cyprus Elias Fotopoulos, the Ambassador of Cyprus to Greece Kyriacos Kenevezos and other officials also attend the meeting at the Presidential Palace.
