TOURISM: Cyprus tourism revenue increased 2.1% in September

Income from Cyprus tourism rose 2% in September compared to the same month last year, official data showed on Thursday.


Tourism receipts reached €378.8 mln in September from €371 mln in the same month last year, recording an increase of 2.1%.

For the nine months January – September revenue from tourism is estimated at €2.26 bln from €2.21 bln a year ago, recording an increase of 2.3%.

Expenditure per person for September decreased 5% to €728.23 from €766.89 in the same month of 2017.

And spending per person/per day for September 2018 also recorded a drop of 3% (from €79.06 to €76.66).

A decrease of 2.1% was also recorded in the average length of stay, from 9.7 days in September 2017 to 9.5 days this September.

The expenditure per person for January – September reached €700.21 down 5.2% from €738,49 last year.

Spending per person/per day for the nine months to September also dipped 3.2% (from €77.74 to €75.29).

Lebanese were the biggest daily spenders in September with €142.23 and the Greeks the most frugal spending €35.56.

Cyprus has already beaten last year’s arrivals record of 3.65 million tourists and hopes to top the €2.63 bln best spending figures.
