TRAVEL: Cyprus Airways adds Thessaloniki as new destination

Cyprus Airways has added Thessaloniki to its flight network for winter 2018/19 from Larnaca Airport. Flights to Thessaloniki are available to book from 23 October.


The company also announced increased flight frequency on its Larnaca-Athens route, from 4 weekly flights to daily flights for winter. 

Furthermore, Cyprus Airways in its efforts to meet the current market needs – due to the collapse of Cypriot carrier Cobalt Air – for the route Larnaca -Athens. It will operate additional flights to/from Athens on 26 and 28 October.

“Following 16 months of successful operation, we are absolutely delighted to introduce Thessaloniki on our network and to offer extra capacity on the route Larnaca-Athens,” said Natalia Popova, Chief Commercial Officer of Cyprus Airways.

She added: “We continually monitor our route network and feel that the Larnaca-Thessaloniki route will be a popular choice for both local and Greek travellers, while the daily frequency to Athens will offer to our customers more flexibility in their travel arrangements”.

Flights to Thessaloniki are scheduled to begin 7 November 2018.  The company will fly to Thessaloniki every Wednesday and Sunday.

Cyprus Airways offers two categories of fares, Basic and Flex. The Flex offers additional services, such as 23kg baggage allowance, seat selection etc, giving customers the option to customize their travel experience.

In July 2016, Charlie Airlines Ltd, a Cyprus registered company, won a tender competition for the right to use the trademark Cyprus Airways for a decade. The company launched flights in June 2017.

Cyprus Airways operates flights to Europe, Russia and Middle East. All Cyprus Airways flights operate on modern Airbus A319 aircraft with a capacity of 144 Economy Class seats.

In October, the company became a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The company’s long-term goal is to contribute in the increase of tourism in Cyprus, while at the same time broadening the horizon for local travellers.
